Report of Krishi Unnati 2018 and Webcasting of Honourable Prime Minister’s address at ICAR-DGR, Junagadh
The ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research, Junagadh has organized a Farmer’s Fair-cum-Interactive session on 17th March 2018 at its premises coinciding with the Krishi Unnati Mela at IARI, New Delhi by Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The interactive kisan mela was attended by farmers from Dhoraji (KVK), Kodinar (KVK), Gir/Smonath (ATMA), Junagadh (ATMA) and nearby villages and the villages adopted by DGR under MGMG. During the interactive session the difficulties faced by the farmers in cultivation crops in this part of the states of Gujarat was discussed. An exhibition also was organised to showcase improved groundnut technologies and other related demonstrations in addition to expose and exhibit the farmers to different new herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, new farm machineries, and showcase of improved production practices. Twenty-five different companies exhibited their products/implements to the farmers.
This was followed by live telecast of the events of Krishi Unnati Mela and the address of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the India, Shri Narendra Modi. A total of 806 including 70 women farmers participated in the Farmers’ Fair-cum-Interaction session. Dr. IU Dhruj (Associate Director, Junagadh Agricultural University); Dr. Lakhani and Dr. Parmar (Deputy directors, ATMA), Dr. KL Dobaria (Oil seed specialist, JAU) and other subject matter specialists from JAU and programme coordinators of the KVKs also have attended the Krishi Mela
