Dr. T. Mohapatra, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Secretary (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, New Delhi, visited ICAR-Directorate of Groundnut Research on 4th September 2016. He visited the farmers’ groundnut fields in and around Juangadh along with Dr. T. Radhakrishnan, Director, ICAR-DGR. Dr. Mohapatra visited museum and went around the experimental fields and the DGR farm. He also visited labs of Biotechnology, Microbiology and Physiology and interacted with the Scientists on the progress of research activities. In the meeting of the staff of DGR with DG, Dr. Radhakrishnan, Director made a brief presentation on establishment, progress and functioning of DGR along with staff strength and budget.
In his address, while appreciating the overall progress made by the Directorate especially in commercializing cellulase and protease enzyme technologies, the Director General called for a concerted effort of all the staff in bringing the organization to a newer heights, he emphasized a greater focus on utilization of wild species, varietal development, quality improvement, and management of biotic and abiotic stresses in the research programmes.
The meeting ended with the vote of thanks to the Director General.
